Chuck McConkey moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma
in 1990 to begin the process of studyng to become a clergyman in
the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches, MCC’s,
as they are known locally. Because Chuck was born again in the MCC,
he knew of God’s love for him, but was unsure of his standing
with God. But God had a plan for him. The bible says, “The
love of Christ compels us” (2 Corinthians 5:14), and His love
compelled Chuck out of the gay lifestyle, leaving church and friends.
When he was directed to Restoration Outreach,
Wanda Harris, the gracious director of the program, told him, “Isn’t
is wonderful you have a choice?” From that moment in the summer
of 1992, Chuck’s life began a new direction to make choices
to follow Christ. He chose to follow the Lord’s leading of
preparing himself by attending School of
the Local Church at Grace Fellowship, graduating in May 1994.
He then attended Rhema Bible Training Center
for two years, graduating in May of 1996. God’s plan continued
in his life when he was blessed with a wife, Betty, and two sons,
Rusty and Dusty, becoming a family in 1994.
The door opened for him to take the position of Supervisor
of Restoration by Grace, Grace Fellowship’s
outreach to homosexuals and their families in 1996.
In April of 1999, Chuck assumed the Director of Counseling
position at Grace Fellowship. His is currently holding the positions
of Director of Restoration by Grace
and Director of Counseling.
